
Itchen Down Farm is in the Itchen Valley. The River Itchen is famous worldwide for its chalk stream fishing. Delightful walks along its banks to observe the wildlife and flora are available for the keen naturalist. Public footpaths and bridle ways take you on long or short rambles of your choice. Off road cycling is another challenge.
Fishing can be arranged at nearby Avington fishing lakes for the enthusiastic angler. There is also a 9 hole golf course which is situated by the river at Avington. The old market town of Alresford is a step back in time, full of old world charm and the home of the Watercress line. A steam train journey not to be missed.
Winchester has a lot to offer the visitor when it comes to exploring history. Guided tours are available from the tourist office. Winchester has a leisure centre with a gym and swimming pool. With in easy reach of The Rose Bowl Hampshire’s home of cricket.
Grange Opera festival takes place in June and is only 5 minute drive from us. It is a most wonderful setting, well worth a visit if you can obtain tickets.
Gardens to visit are plentiful. R H S garden at Wisley is a 40 minute drive, and there are many National Trust properties to explore in the area.
